Breast feeding can be tricky, especially if you're in public
or have guests over at the house and you're not comfortable pulling
out your breast in front of everyone. Nursing
bras are the solution to this sometimes awkward situation.
There are two very important elements to a good nursing bra: that
it is supportive and easy to use.
Support:
Since your breast size will increase with your pregnancy and milk
adds weight to your breast, having a supportive bra that fits right
is very important. One way to tell if your nursing bra is supportive
enough is that it should be able to support the breast while you
are feeding. Support doesn't have to mean that the bra has to be
frumpy or ugly. You don't have to sacrifice style for comfort. Today,
nursing bras are available in fun, bright colors and stylish prints.
There are also different styles, from practical to sexy. There are
even camisoles with built in nursing bras. When it comes to fit,
don’t buy a bra that is too tight. Not only will it be uncomfortable
but it can affect your milk glands.
Easy to use:
Most nursing bras come with a flap that unsnaps or unhooks. A good
bra will allow you to unsnap and snap it with one hand so that you
can hold your baby with the other hand. It’s a good idea to
have more than one nursing bra as it will get milk stains on it
and you will need an extra one to wear while you are washing the
other one. Purchasing special pads to place in the bra will provide
extra protection from milk leakage Also, since you will be living
in it everyday for several months it’s nice to have more than
one.
Nursing bras can be purchased online, at maternity stores or at
retail stores like Target. The bras are offered in different styles
such as soft cup, underwire (underwire bras can restrict your milk
ducts so it is best to have a soft cup bra to alternate with), sports
bras, bras for sleeping in, and plus size bras. They range greatly
in price depending on the manufacture, but nursing bras can be found
for as cheap as $10 to $15.
Breast feeding is the best source of nutrients for a new born baby.
A nursing bra is a great way to make the breast feeding experience
a pleasant one.
